British Youtube Tween goes 'big in Japan' because she looks like an anime character

I just read some article about how a British tween has become a cultural sensation + icon in Japan. Apparently, she has a youtube channel where she dances around to Japanimation anime music. Due to her figure + body type, she closely resembles an anime character (wide face, big eyes, a thin bod, and a sweet, sweet rack of formative teen breasts).  Mixed with her dancing + youtubing talent, she has 'climbed to the top of the Japanese charts' since some1 found a way to monetize her.  Nothing more inspiring than a youtube tween sensation 'selling units' in foreign markets.

Here is basically the 'background info' on this lil broad:

A British schoolgirl is set to top the charts in Japan after her YouTube clips became an internet sensation.
Rebecca Flint - a 14-year-old who calls herself Beckii Cruel - releases her debut album today to much excitement in the land of the rising sun.
Her webpage is the second most subscribed by music fans in Japan and she has already performed live in Tokyo.
Rebecca, from the Isle of Man, first came to attention on YouTube where millions watched her dance to J-Pop (Japanese pop music) and the theme tunes of anime cartoons.

Feel free to watch one of her lil dance videos to 'get a better feel' on this tween.

Maybe she is the Japanese version of Miley Cyrus / Hannah Montana, except she doesn't sext pictures of herself to bros. I have a feeling that this girl probably appeals to grown Japanese men, though.

Do u feel turned on by white girls who wish they were AZN / Japanese?  Or do you think men are programmed to be 'turned on' by girls ages 13-20 because those were their formative sexual years?

Maybe it doesn't matter what culture ur a part of--all that really matters is the simple truth that 'sex sells.' As 'cute' of a story it is that UK tween became a big deal in Japan, maybe they are just into her because of the same reasons America got into Britt Spears 'back in the day.'

Basically, I think she appeals to Japanese people because this is their idea of 'the perfect woman.'

Wonder how easy it is to be 'big in Japan.'  It seems like an absurd place, where nothing makes sense.  In America, there are tons of creative agencies that can bring products to market because the hype system in the USA is pretty standard.  I wonder if it is the same way in Japan, or if it is 'totally random'?

I feel like the concept of being 'big in Japan' has sort of been branded as 'having an authentic niche of fans who appreciate your quirkiness on a level that the Western World could not.' Going to the Far East to find acceptance seems to have been around since after America dropped a couple of bombs on them.  Maybe it is some sort of 'white/yellow guilt' to seek their acceptance after we 'bombed them back to the stone age.'

I would guess that people in Japan aren't really into the 'relevant indie scene.' The things that they value as pillars of mainstream / alt culture aren't really what USA + UK + Canadian markets would value.  Wonder how/when our alternative paths diverged.

From what I understand, they are probably living in a different environment. A place where they have Toyotan cultural ideals of honor and fairness, but then use cartoons as a way to escape into a dream world.  Maybe they are seeking some sort of insane escapism to deal with the bomb drop less than 100 years ago.

Feel like I might not overthink our cultural divide, and just watch clips of Japanese game shows. I will 'laugh' at the disconnect between American culture and Japanese culture, but then maybe come to the conclusion that 'all humans are the same' because we just want to escape from 'the grind' of daily life.  We just want things 2 laugh at, things 2 distract us from how sad/trapped we might feel on the inside.

Who gets more joy out of the human Tetris meme: the Japs or the Americans?

I wonder if Beckii Cruel will become an American sensation. Like she will perform with the Jonas Brothers / Justin Bieber. I think that if those bands want to break into Japanese markets, they should probably utilize her.

Maybe Japanese people are into them because they want to be white. Lots of American whites are into black music because they 'want to be black', so maybe Beckii Cruel represents an ideal identity that they can obtain by consuming different media/art/goods.

Maybe Beckii Cruel is the new ternative.

Do yall think Beckii Cruel is 'fucking hot'?
Do u like her dance moves?
R u in2 'hentai' porn
Will Pitchfork review her new album?
What does it take to be 'big in Japan'?
Do you think Westerners who get into Eastern cultures probably had a hard time fitting in during middle + high school?
Would Japanese people 'get' AnCo?
Do u think Japanese people would find American culture to be 'fucking boring'/uninspired?

FUCK ONE, KILL ONE, MARRY ONE: Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus, and Beckii Cruel.
